Trade shows can be intimidating, especially for those who have no experience with one before. By the end of the first day, you're exhausted and your feet are sore. You're also wondering: "How did I get here?" And then you remember: "Oh yeah, I was supposed to promote my business at this event!". We're here to make sure that doesn't happen again by teaching you how to have success at tradeshows & events this year with these tips.
Make a list of goals that you would like to achieve at the show.
Set a realistic goal for each goal. If you don't know how much sales increase or lead generation is, just estimate it and make sure it's something achievable. You don't want to set your expectations too high so that when you fall short, it feels like a failure!
Once you've determined what your goals will be, figure out how many leads or sales counts as meeting that goal. For example: "Increase sales by 5%." In this case, if we made 30 sales and £30,000 per day in sales last year, we will be aiming for 31.5 orders and £31,500 a dayin sales this year (on average) —and this doesn't take into account any other factors outside of my control such as weather or competition from other exhibitors who are selling similar products at lower prices than mine!
Use social media to promote your presence at the tradeshow.
Email and direct mail campaigns can help get the word out about your tradeshow appearance too.
Have branded merchandise on hand to give away at the event. This is a great way to strengthen relationships with new connections, as well as reinforce brand awareness and loyalty with existing customers who might be there as attendees or sponsors.
Set up a contest or giveaway for attendees onsite! The more fun you can make it for them, the better off everyone will be in the long run: more people enjoying their time at the trade show means that they’ll share their experience with others—and this will help spread word-of-mouth advertising throughout those networks of people they interact with most frequently (in other words: it’s like advertising without spending any money).
It's no secret that you should use a variety of media to engage visitors, but did you know that it's also important to make sure your material reflects the tone and style of your brand? Using interactive displays gets people involved in the experience, and using colour and texture can make your booth stand out from the rest. If possible, try incorporating these elements into your banner design as well:
Use bright colours—people naturally gravitate towards bright colours like reds, yellows, blues and greens because they're associated with happiness (which increases brand recall).
Incorporate textures—not only do textures create visual interest; they also improve memory retention. For example, if someone visits a tradeshow that uses velvet signage for its branding materials versus one that uses plastic signs for its branding materials then later sees them again on Instagram then both images would be easier for them to recognize than if there were no characteristics in common between them at all!
Now that you have a list of all the people who will be attending your tradeshow, it's time to put in some follow-up work. This can be done by emailing them a personal note with information about your company and what they can expect at the tradeshow. If you are able to, it's also a good idea to connect with them on social media and send them a message about the event or just say hello!
